Websites and apps to keep you in check

There have been an influx of apps claiming to keep your busy life in order, but how many do you actually use? Here are a few apps and sites, compiled by the Huffington Post on June 17, 2013 in “19 Mobile Apps For Your Mobile Life,” that we deem useful.

  • Mint allows you to track your financial commitments in one place; available for Android and iPhone.
  • Hey Where Are You? While this tracking app has a bit of a creeper feeling, it can help you track down friends at a crowded venue or summer music festival. Free, but for your iPhone only.
  • Out and about and need to work on that group project real quick before Happy Hour? Wi-Fi Finder will find the closest free or paid Wi-Fi connects in your area. Both for iPhone and Android.
  • A cool app called Key Ring combines all of your customer loyalty cards into one place. Just scan the bar code in and clear your key chains off. Both for iPhone and Android

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wish there was such a thing as a Pandaroo or a Taranturaptor? ” Well, if you haven’t, you need to check out Wired’s June 3, 2013 post by Nadia Drake titled “Taranturaptor, Pandaroo, and Other Animal Hybrids We Wish Existed.” Drake explores the possibility of 11 different hybrids ranging from a Cuttlephant and a Piranhatee. The article features drawings from some talented young (and some alum) artists from California State University – Monterey Bay’s Science Illustration program. Is your roomie terrified of both spiders and sharks? Be sure to print this hybrid animal out for her bedroom door.
