Vote for the best “Instructor for a Day” video

Students were asked to submit a short video to YouTube that answers the question, “How would you engage your students?” if they were the instructor for a day. By creating a one- to two-minute video, students showed us what they would do to get fellow students engaged and involved in the learning process — and, boy, did they show us their creativity skills!

Show Us a Slice of Your Life! – Announcing the Video Contest Winner

Slice of Your LifeCongratulations to Addie Ratcliff from the University of Indianapolis, as the winner of MindTap’s “Show us a Slice of Your Life” video contest. Our friends at MindTap challenged you to make a video showing what makes you a unique learner while peeling an orange in a creative way, and the response was incredible. Out of more than 300 video entries, six videos were chosen as finalists, and online voting took place in early May to choose the final winners. Over 5,000 votes were cast and Addie’s video was voted as the favorite. Addie, creator of the “Peel of the Day” project showed us how she creates inspirational messages out of orange peels and leaves them around campus for people to see. It seems everyone was inspired by her unique learning style, “to truly learn, means not giving up when the learning gets difficult”. She will receive a $2500 scholarship to reward her efforts. A Slice of Your Life in Video – Help pick the scholarship winner!

Slice of Your LifeJust like there’s more than one way to peel an orange, there’s more than one way to learn. Our friends at MindTap recently invited students to share their experiences as unique learners through a video contest. Students were tasked with creating a short video of peeling an orange in a unique way, while showing at the same time what makes them a unique learner. More than 300 creative students submitted entries. Techniques for slicing the oranges ranged from pottery wheels to animation and even power tools. (Thankfully no students were harmed during filming — that we know of anyway!) The MindTap team tackled the difficult task of narrowing the list down to just 6 finalists out of all the entries, and because there were so many impressive entries they also added a second category of “Viewer’s Choice” to highlight a few more.

And now, we need your help to pick the best video and winner of a $2500 scholarship!

Visit MindTap to see all the finalists’ videos and cast your vote for the winner! You can vote once a day between now and Sunday May 5th.
